Big Data - Big Opportunity

'Big data' has become very much a topic of the moment - we are increasingly inundated with vast streams of information. People are producing more and more data every day, at ever-faster rates and on a number of differing devices. We are also seeing a greater variety of information than ever before, where a single dataset can consist of any combination of video, audio, text, sensor data, and so on.

With an increased quantity of data whether structured or unstructured comes greater potential value, if it can be harnessed. Companies now have an increasing need to retrieve, utilise and extract value from more pieces of data which aren't simple text and number entries, and there is the increasing demand for real-time answers.
